Local residents hear about new water mains

Local people got the chance to hear about a £6.3 million investment scheme to upgrade nearly 40kms of the network of underground water mains over the next two years in and around East Barnet, Cathill, Cockfosters and New Barnet.

Representatives from Three Valleys Water and their contractor, Enterprise, gave a presentation to the Barnet Residents Forum, which met on Thursday 6 November at High Barnet Library.

Samples of the existing 70 year old cast iron pipe were on display to show why it is necessary to make the investment now before the pipes deteriorate further and cause disruption through burst mains.

The first phase of the work has already started and is progressing well with Clifford Road, in New Barnet, already completed and several other roads underway.

The information panels and customer literature are now on display at East Barnet Library, Brookhill Road or further information can be found on the Works in your area page.
