Q7. Are there any circumstances where my bill might be reduced?

There are a number of different circumstances where your bill might be reduced or where you might qualify to receive a rebate:

1.

Three Valleys Water takes part in a national Government scheme to offer assistance with water bills to certain types of customers who are metered. Our "WaterSure" tariff is intended to help vulnerable customers whose bills might be higher than average because of their circumstances. The scheme is based on our normal metered tariff, but bills are capped at the level of the "average household bill" for Three Valleys Water customers. If your annual usage exceeds that amount, which is set annually by our regulator Ofwat, your bill will be capped so that you do not pay more than that amount. If you use less, you'll only pay for what you've used.

Click here to find out if you might qualify for "WaterSure" and to request an application form.

2. Thames Water and Anglian Water will consider reducing your metered wastewater (sewerage) charges if you can prove that you return less than 90% of the water supplied to the public sewerage system. If you think this will apply to you, please e-mail us and we will send you the appropriate form.
Wastewater services charges include an element covering the disposal of rainwater (surface water) from your property. In all likelihood, your property will be connected to the sewer for this purpose. However, a small number of properties, mainly in rural areas, are not connected and have other arrangements such as direct discharge to watercourses or special "soakaways".
If you think that surface water from your property does not drain to the sewer, please call Thames Water on 0845 9200 888 or Anglian Water on 0800 169 3271 for an application form.
If you're on a water meter, as your water charges are based on the water you use, everyone can reduce their water charges by becoming more water efficient in their home and garden. Click here to find out how to become more water efficient.
